10,000 KBS, WORKOUT 10, 17 JULY 2014
10,000 KBS, Workout 10, 17 July
-I completed the workout in 43:50 using a 32 kg bell. I got 6.5 hours of sleep the night prior.
-43:50 is my fastest completion time, regardless of KB or FS/BS weight, thus far.
-The first and second cluster both felt a little slower than I would have liked. The FS, while feeling stable and very solid, felt slow.
-The third cluster felt tougher than I was expecting. I got through it no problem, but I was feeling more tired than I would have liked at the conclusion of my set of 50 swings. I focused on my recovery breathing and on regaining my composure.
-The swings in the forth cluster went by quickly, and I felt powerful. Same with the FS – they felt good. It was tough and it took a great effort but they went right up. There were no sticking points. As good as the forth cluster felt in execution I was tired at the end of it.
-I started my fifth cluster mentally strong but feeling like I didn’t have as much gas left in the tank. I was going to be gutting my way through this one. I knocked out my 10 swings, 1 FS, and 15 swings with no rest and I was heaving. I had to take 5 or 6 deep breaths before getting on the bar for my 2 FS. I did those well and 30 seconds later knocked out my set of 25 swings. I was gassed. It took me about 10 seconds to get on the bar for my final 3 FS. I finally just sucked it up and hit the bar. They went right up. I hit my timer to start my 60 seconds of rest before doing my final 50 swings. That is when I looked up at the clock for the first time since starting the morning’s workout. And that is when I realized why I felt so gassed. I was freaking moving. I had increased my swinging cadence and was continuing to shave off a few seconds here and there from my rest and transitions and it was paying off. The cost of all of that was the increased intensity I was feeling.
-Both a curse and a blessing of this workout is that it is completely measureable. I’m either moving faster, or I’m not. I’m either improving, or I’m not. There is nowhere to hide and no excuse to allow myself. Each workout I have to find the will to shave more time off. That weighs heavily on my mind. I’m already thinking about that I am going to have to get quicker this Friday. Do I possess the strength? I don’t know. I sure possess the will. We will see if that is enough.
